World Class Golf

In the Village of Pinehurst, you can walk the fairways of world-class courses at the Pinehurst Resort, where champions and traditions have been made since 1898. The Pinehurst Resort boasts the famous No. 2 Course and:

  • Is the site of more championships than any other golf course in the United States, including the first-ever the back to back 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships.

  • Is a designated National Landmark, along with the Village of Pinehurst, for its historical, significant role in U.S. golf history.

Village of Pinehurst residents who own property are eligible for Pinehurst Country Club Membership. 

With over 40 golf courses in a 15-mile radius of the Village, the opportunities for golf are almost endless.

Recreation

There’s no shortage of family fun in and around the Village of Pinehurst where the outdoors is a playground almost year round with:

  • 3 parks with a newly constructed splash pad, a disc golf course, soccer fields, bocce ball court, and tennis courts.

  • Camelot Playground with a castle where children can explore secret passages and tunnel mazes.

  • 7 miles of scenic greenway trails.

  • 200-acre Lake Pinehurst for boating, fishing, and swimming 

  • Nearby Reservoir Park and Weymouth Woods-Sandhills Nature Preserve in Southern Pines with hiking trails, fishing, and boating.

  • Coming in 2019: a 19,555-square-foot Community Center which will house programs for all age groups and will include a full-size gymnasium with court lines for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, a multi-purpose room, and various classrooms for programs and activities.

Equestrian

Moore County has long been a draw for horse enthusiasts. Major equestrian facilities include:

  • The Pinehurst Harness Track, a 111-acre equestrian facility operated by the Village of Pinehurst, where the 2016 Hambletonian Trot Winner trained.

  • McLendon Hills Equestrian Center in nearby Seven Lakes.

  • The Carolina Horse Park only 25 minutes away.

  • 4,000-acre Walthour-Moss Foundation land preserve. (vopnc.org)
